The press is a great resource for any company. Media exposure can greatly enhance any branding effort. Today’s technology allows for a confusing array of possibilities relating to your company’s press kit. Many business owners make common mistakes when assembling these kits. The following are some easy tips towards creating the press kit best suited to your company’s needs while avoiding common missteps.

The first components are obviously the basics. Essentials include company overview, description and history. All contact information is required. Testimonials for your product are very helpful as are independent and objective reviews from trusted sources. Any previous press coverage should also be included. This could include reference within trade or industry publications. Business card printing might be necessary in that the cards included must be of the highest quality. If yours are not it is time for a new batch.

Your press kit should reflect the industry in which you reside. For example, if your product is sold to young snow boarders, then you’d have a fun and edgy theme. Conversely, if you resided in a more conservative field like selling software to attorneys then you would desire a more professional and staid motif. You should keep this theme consistent and not vary it between recipients. This rule parallels the same concept relating to consistency within brochure printing and catalog printing.

Today, technology makes it possible to submit your kit electronically using no paper at all. The ability for media devices today to hold reams of data encourage some marketers to cram as much as will fit into the presentation. This often proves to be a fatal mistake. Information overload can turn off the reader. Keep your information concise. This can prove beneficial if it prompts a follow up phone call from the recipient for further information. Much better to have that opportunity for a personal pitch which wouldn’t exist had you conveyed the additional information within your media kit.

Keep the content in your kit current. If you are including old news that reflects poorly upon your organization. Review the materials in your kit on a continuous basis. Update it with the newest references and testimonials received by your product or service. Make sure your content conforms to the current reality taking into consideration any applicable recent events.

The fourth estate is a powerful weapon within your branding arsenal. Experienced marketers know that relationships developed with the press are worth their weight in gold. A good press kit is the way to initially get your foot in the door. The first ones sent out are the most critical. Create yours with care and thought.

What are Electronic Cigarettes?

An Electronic Cigarette is basically a battery-powered device which gives doses of nicotine when inhaled through a vaporised solution. These cigarettes can give a similar flavour and physical sensation that is found with traditional cigarettes. The electronic cigarette is also known as e-cigarette or smokeless cigarette. These Electronic Cigarettes give a simulating experience that is both unique and satisfying in its own right. An electronic cigarette looks like an elongated tube resembling real cigarettes.

While these cigarettes may look and taste much like real cigarettes, their functioning is completely different, as e-cigarettes do not burn any tobacco at all. When inhaling from an e-cigarette, a flow censor is activated in it, which in turn heats a nicotine containing solution, known as e liquid. This creates a vapour containing the nicotine, propylene glycol and a scent that can simulate the flavour of tobacco. In automatic models, when inhaling through the device, a sensor detects the air flow which then activates a heating element that vaporises the nicotine solution stored in the mouthpiece. With manual models, a button is required to be pressed to activate the heating element to produce the vapour. Most models have an LED on the opposite end of the device which gets activated and glows during inhalation indicating that it is in use and gives a similar effect of smoking a traditional cigarette. The LED comes in varied colours and offering the choice to opt for any colour according to preference.

While an electronic cigarette may have many forms, they generally consist of the same basic components: a mouthpiece, a heating element, a rechargeable battery and various electronic circuits. The mouthpiece is usually a small disposable plastic cup-like piece attached to the end of the tube. Either the mouthpiece or separate liquid container holds an absorbent material that is saturated with the flavoured e liquid solution which contains the nicotine. The heating element vaporises the liquid in the mouthpiece so that it can be inhaled. This component is generally called an atomiser. Some models combine a pre-filled cartridge and an atomiser into one disposable component known as cartomiser. Most electronic cigarettes have a lithium-ion rechargeable battery to power the heating element and the battery life varies depending on the battery’s type, size and frequency of use as well as the operating environment. The battery is generally the largest component of the electronic cigarette.

Electronic cigarettes come in multiple flavours as well as different nicotine strengths. These can include regular tobacco, menthol, apple and strawberry flavoured cartridges. The e cigarettes come in strengths ranging from super high to zero nicotine strengths. The electronic cigarette is regarded as a ‘smoking alternative’. These cigarettes can be smoked anytime and anywhere including bars, restaurants, workplace and even on airplanes, as they do not produce any smoke at all. These cigarettes come in exciting fashionable colours like: black and silver with dazzling blue LEDs at really reasonable prices. There is the option to stylise these electronic cigarette kits with unique cases and accessories. This also helps in protecting the cigarette from any wear and tear. As most electronic cigarettes are reusable devices with replaceable and refillable parts, they can be seen as a smart smoking alternative.

Many toy manufactures now focus on the educational usefulness of the toys they produce. After all, toys have been known to nurture minds while encouraging discovery and enjoyment. Here are the top electronic educational toys for young boys that do not compromise the balance between fun and learning:

Number recognition
Introduce the joys of mathematics early to a young boy and help nurture a love for numbers. There are several great electronic educational toys that young boys will love, including oversized talking calculators that teach basic mathematics such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. These are colorful toys, which children find quite attractive. Battery power means these electronic toys can be carried anywhere.

Another great addition for your child’s collection is the electronic numbers mat. It consists of several mats with corresponding numbers and images. When pressed, the image reads the numbers out loud. Excellent for assisting young boys in learning to recognize and count numbers. Mats with images emit animal sounds.

Sequencing games
When there are electronic educational toys, sequencing games no longer have to be boring stuff. Engage your young boys in hours of fun, play and learning. An excellent electronic toy to look for is the one offered by LeapFrog — children manipulate components of the toy to create patterns and even play melodies. Helps focus not just on creativity and reasoning but also in developing children’s motor skills.

Building toys
Lego bricks are great but there are many electronic educational toys designed for young boys that encourage them to build and create another toy out of several components. Consider getting your child a radio and electronics set of a basic circuitry board. All components come in a box with instructions.

To build the toy itself, the child follows the instructions provided in an easy to read manual. Once he’s done, he will be able to make his own radio, for example, or a simple circuits board that has a computer interface or even a simple robot that comes with a sensor. Helps encourage creativity and scientific thinking; also helps develop focus.

Electronic educational toys such as these are best for older boys. Some components are small enough to be choking hazards, so avoid giving to a young child.

Science kit
There is a wide variety of electronic educational toys that young boys will find interesting, particularly if they are fond of science. Consider kits such as those that introduce your child to magnets, electricity, electromagnets, radio, sound, motion, computers and light. Try puzzles that combine light and sound or radio-controlled toys. For older kids, try the 100-in-1 or 200-in-1 electronic project kits that will provide them with neverending fun and learning.

There are plenty of boys toys designed for little boys and although these represent hours of fun, not all of them are effective as educational tools. Find out which toys are best for fun and learning.

“Much of what’s taught in school music programs today is repetition of selected traditional music…with little emphasis on the collaborative process that is inherent in writing and performing music” says TCS Founder, Zac Smith. “In today’s scene, creativity is key and the use of a sampler or software application is as relevant as, say, the use of a trumpet. Our goal is to present youth from varying socio-economic backgrounds with an outlet for creative expression through the vehicle of current music trends.”

According to Smith, kids not only compose their music for live performance, they also produce additional creative media content in the form of band photos, recordings, midi compositions, music videos, electronic press kits, and online profiles, giving them the tools needed by today’s do-it-yourself musicians.

“TCS showed me that playing the drums is not just a hobby, but something that I can actually do for the rest of my life,” says student Lane Beckstrom. “There are a variety of youth based programs out there that involve sports and other activities, yet it is peculiar that creative expression through music has few guided and funded options. It is a valid plight to offer youth a platform to conceptualize and bring to fruition their musical ideas, while teaching them the value working and communicating with others in developing an idea. Our foundation is promoting and empowering young musicians and developing their confidence in their creative and musical potential.”

Highlights from last year’s summer music camp, including watching the kids work on a music video for award-winning Australian artist, Ben Lee, can be seen in the Web Series “Let it Be Heard…” – The Story of the Collective Sound at: www.thecollectivesound.com.

“As soon as camp was over, I couldn’t wait for it to start up again,” says last year student, Andrew Rywak.
