As today’s networks are growing, becoming most expensive to operate and even more complicated, the number of distributed networks and remote branches are also increasing rapidly, creating a need for efficient console servers. And with budgets for network management staff dwindling, it is becoming even more important to build in capabilities to improve the response time to an outage or other problem This makes remote power management a key element in efficiently managing your data center.

While some businesses are utilizing UPS (uninterruptible power supplies), a substantial number are not implementing a remote power management solution to provide them with the full range of protection and cost savings available to them via a remote console server. These power management console servers are network-managed devices that allow remote control of the power on a per-receptacle basis, allowing remote cycling of equipment and other management capabilities.

For many equipment issues, cycling power can be the fastest – or only – way to correct problems. Through a remote console server, technicians can monitor power, perform a remote reboot and control individual power receptacles. If a system freezes, the technician can remotely reboot power and quickly return the network to operational status.

The benefits of remote power management include:

reduction in required site visits;
quick recovery from software lockouts;
ability to activate standby equipment and remotely shut down defective equipment;
remote monitoring of power consumption to identify any changes;
reports to audit power before making the decision to add equipment;
ability to control power sequencing.

The single most important justification for remote power management is the cost savings related to site trips previously required to alleviate common issues, including:

restoring network connectivity via remote reboot of key servers or network equipment after a failure;
remotely activating standby equipment and shutting down primary equipment;
increases in power consumption from attached systems that can indicate an impending hardware failure;
knowing in advance whether equipment expansion or upgrades can be done within a rack pdu’s power level;
sequencing power to outlets on power up to eliminate current inrush and maximize use of circuit ratings;
maximizing runtime by shutting down non-critical equipment.

A UPS is sometimes considered sufficient protection for equipment, but a complete power management solution provides control in addition to power outage protection. Advanced power management is often integrated with other remote management resources to simplify management and reduce the number of interfaces.

These technologies are called out-of-band management or out-of-band networking and are implemented on console terminal servers. The most common interface used for out-of-band management is a serial connection to the service port of servers, storage, routers, switches, and other types of network equipment. Through a single interface, an administrator can manage power, console terminal servers and environmental and security management for a wide variety of applications.

Complete power management – beyond the protection of a UPS – can be a critical element of network management for today’s businesses. A properly-configured power management system can provide around-the-clock remote power access and real-time monitoring that allows the data center manager to address a large number of common network problems without the need for a site visit. With this capability, businesses can greatly reduce the cost of network downtime without increasing network management staffing costs.

There comes a time in many musicians’ lives where they feel they need management. Remember, not only signed artists feel they need management, sometimes people in the independent music field feel this way as well. A manager is someone who, in a nutshell, runs the business side of the artist’s career in the music industry.

An artist or band manager will play many roles. One role they fill is handling all the music contacts. These music contacts include club owners, agents, labels, A&R, promoters and many other professionals in the music industry. The manager may also handle marketing, promoting, tours, budgeting and booking shows. A manager may have to wear many hats so it is important to pick someone who is reliable and trustworthy.

When searching for a manager, there are many questions you should ask yourself before settling on one particular person.

1.First, does this manager typically handle your genre or field of music? If you are an Indie artist, then make sure this manager is prepared to deal with the field of independent music. Are they more into hip hop while you have a more alternative rock feel? It is important to pick a manager that specializes in your genre.

2.Trust your instincts and ask yourself how trustworthy they feel after meeting with them. Are they just tooting their own horn or are they the real deal?

3.How are their references? Ask or call around to other music contacts to see what they say. Hearsay is important in the music industry, believe it or not.

4.How experienced are they? If they are just beginning their career then how well connected are they? But then again, they may put more effort into your band if they have something to prove. Make a list of the pros and cons of each.

5.Do you know anyone else that has worked with them? Find out how ethical they are. You don’t want to butt heads with your manager over ethics in the music industry.

6.What style of management are they? Are they go-getters or laid back? Talk to other artists who have worked with them, if possible.

7.Keep in mind that managers usually work for a percentage of what you make. Try to avoid a manager that asks for a salary.

Having a valued and honest relationship with your manager is crucial. You want to be on the same page as your manager whether you do independent music or are signed. Make sure your manager is making the proper music contacts and truly believes in you. After all, you don’t want to work with, for or beside someone who doesn’t have your best interests in mind.

              The Beatles is the music band that has great reputation as well as very long and interesting history. There is no doubt that this group has made significant success for their career and it is still good to learn more about how they get such a success. The following article covers a topic that includes a short history of them. You may find that before they become The Beatles they have to face so many problems and obstacles, which require patience and a lot effort to struggle. If you want to learn more about it, here’s your opportunity.

The guy named John Lennon, who has very strong inspiration from the rock and roll music of Elvis Presley, created the Beatles. John Lennon and his friends had formed up the music band named Quarry Men in the year 1957. At the end of the year 1942, John met Paul McCartney, the guy from Liverpool, and persuaded him to join the band after he finished seeing John’s performance.

Afterwards, in the year 1943, The Paul’s schoolmate joined the band on leading guitar and also changed the name of the band to Johnny and the Moondog. In early 60′s, Cliff who was the schoolmate of John Lennon, joined the band on bass guitar despite the fact that he had no knowledge about music and notes. Tommy Moor was replacing Pete Best for drums and the band used the name Silver Beetles. Soon after, the name of the band was changed again from Silver Beetles to The Beatles.

After that, the new Beatle music band had the first concert to welcome new member, Pete. In December 1943, Harrison was arrested by German police and sent him back to his hometown because he was too young and after him, the guys from Liverpool were also sent back to their home country.

In the year 1960, the Beatles started their concert performance again in Cavern Club in Liverpool, and this place was the beginning of their success story. They had almost 300 performances at this place and then they decided to go back to German in April 1961. At this time, one of the band members decided to leave the band to be full time artist and they became four instead of five.

Paul compulsorily had to play bass guitar as well. After that, the Beatles performed concerts in Liverpool many times until 9 November 1961, Brian, the owner of music record, came to see their concert. Brian’s customers had asked him for “Bonnie” which is the song that The Beatles had made the record in Germany few months ago. Two months later, Brian became the first band manager for The Beatles who changed the look of all members of the band including their hairs

How to promote your band is a question often asked by new bands or band managers. Fortunately, thanks in large part to the internet, you can use web 2.0 strategies to promote your band online quickly and will very little capital. This article will give you 4 ways to promote your band online.

Send Out a Newsletter

You can send out a newsletter via email to your possible fans or people in your age group. It’s pretty simple and it only costs around twenty bucks a month for the service. The best way to capture people’s emails is from your website or every time you sell tickets for a show you can ask for your fans’ email address. Then you can stay in touch with them with your newsletter and give your fans updates and discounts and such.

Use Social Networking Sites

Surprise surprise right? But you really have to be using Facebook and Twitter. I’m not a fan of MySpace so I wouldn’t advise using it anyway. However, there are over 300,000,000 (that’s three hundred million) people on Facebook. Set up fan pages and stay in contact with your friends and give out promotional materials to your Facebook and Twitter friends. You’ll also want to have a nice following on Facebook because band managers and record labels look at that kind of stuff.

Post Your Music Videos on YouTube

Yes, again you’ll have to give away your goods. You can use a basic flip digital recorder and have someone tape your band doing a few songs. Then post those songs on YouTube. You can promote that on your Facebook page as well to drive more traffic. It works. This is a ninja tactic that all the internet marketers use and they are making a killing at time. And you will too.

Have a Blog

Your blog can be a free Blogger blog or you can host a WordPress blog with your domain name. Your blog will be your main website for your band. Post your music on there, sell CDs, T-shirts and even MP3s. The list is endless at how you can promote your band online with your blog. Just make sure you update the blog at least twice a week so it will rank higher in the search engines.

Music industry covers numerous music related activities and businesses. It includes recording studios, labels, singers, musicians, live organizers and so on. Apart from this, the role of music managers is also a thing to boast of because these managers have sculpted the careers of several artists, songwriters and musicians.

Therefore, here we are going to understand the importance and role of different types of music managers. There are six types of managers and first one among is known as artist manager or the band manager.

Artist manager looks after the entire business side of the particular music band. This person sends out the demo version of the songs to different labels, print media, radio stations, and publication houses. Artist manager also invites labels and media employees to the music release of the bands.

Artist managers book the studio; explores financial possibilities for the music band, negotiates the deal and oversees other individuals such as accountants and merchandisers.

The second type of music manager in the music industry is business manager. This individual manages the earnings and expenses of the client. He or she also takes care of paying the dues to the background artists, singers and tour managers.

Third type of music manager includes road manager. Road manager looks after the logistics, when the artist is on a music tour. His or her job is to verify the arrangements fulfilling the obligations and to administer the payments.

Production Managers And Tour Managers:

Tour managers are people, who coordinate large tours. They work in collaboration with road managers and look after the details of the entire tour such as catering, hospitality, communications and marketing. At times, a single person does the job of a tour manager as well as a road manager.

Production managers manage large tours, which involves major music artists. They schedule and keep the artists upgraded about all the recent happenings in the music industry. In addition, they also coordinate the tour crew and local site crew and manage the promotion of shows.

Thus, the role of music managers in the music industry cannot be ignored, as it is because of them that these artists concentrate on their music careers freely without worrying for any management lookouts.
